AI Voice Picks is a small, independent site that tests voices from the ElevenLabs Voice Library and shows you what they actually sound like.
Who runs it
I’m Ian. I’m an avid reader, a musician and an AI enthusiast. I’ve recorded numerous audiobooks, and I’ve used ElevenLabs to produce multiple audiobooks that are available on INaudio and Spotify for Authors.
That’s the lens I bring here: I listen to these voices the way a narrator and a listener would, over whole chapters rather than ten-second demos.
How every voice is tested
- Same script. Every voice reads the same passages for each use case (YouTube explainer, audiobook, eLearning, podcast intro), so you’re comparing voices, not copy.
- Same settings. Default model and settings unless noted, so what you hear is what you’ll get on day one. The model and settings are listed in each voice’s test notes.
- Long-form check. A short demo can hide fatigue, so each pick is also run through a few minutes of narration.
- Samples are made here. Samples of other creators’ voices are generated from my own test scripts. I don’t re-host creators’ preview clips, and every creator is credited.
My own voice is on this site
One of the voices reviewed here is my own Voice Library listing, “Ian: Narrative, Warm and Casual”. I earn a share when it’s used in ElevenLabs. It’s labeled “My own voice · disclosed” everywhere it appears, and it goes through the same tests as every other voice.
The narration in my videos is an AI version of my voice.
